10 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows Users

Shortcut keys in Edit menuMost of us here in SAS are using Windows based Desktops or Laptops. It is good to know a handful of keyboard shortcuts to access commonly used functions quickly and easily.

Here are the 10 most frequently used short cuts that you will need to know. You may choose to print this out and paste it by the side of the monitor for quick reference.

 

 

 

Ctrl + C Copy selected text
Ctrl + V Paste
Ctrl + A Select all text
Ctrl + X Cut selected item
Shift + Delete Delete item permanently
Alt + Tab Switch between open programs
Ctrl + Z Undo Changes
Ctrl + Y Redo changes
Alt + F4 Close a program
Windows Logo + L Lock the computer

 

Copy, paste, undo and redo will probably be the most used shortcut. You will start remembering these in a couple of tries.

Ever wanted to lock your computer before going off for short break. Use "Windows Logo + L". You don’t have to log off you machine just to step for a coffee or meeting.

Go on and use the shortcuts. You will find that it is universal. You can use it on any Windows programs. Definitely makes you more productive especially if you typing documents or essays.
